Just like any other travelers, one of the very first things that pop up in our head is where to go and what to do. That is for sure! This can even be so specific to those whose time budget is not that generous. We simply cannot do anything much within only two or three days, or even one.
In this case, we usually tend to make the most of our time spent over that area by visiting its must-sees, which are sites that are so iconic, so popular just to make a “check-in” on our Facebook or feature them in our stunning photos. Many other posts would excessively mention all the fabulous sites in the two big cities of Hanoi and Saigon, so today is the right time for me, to share the best-visited destinations in, I would say, the most noticed city in Central Vietnam, Da Nang.
Da Nang is …
Vietnam’s third largest city lied on the coast of the East Sea, midway between Saigon and Hanoi. The city itself has neither the smell of culture from Hanoi nor the tumultuous honking of Saigon, but a well-known holiday spot for those seeking an exploration or soaking up some Sunlight for a perfect tan while lying with comfort on the city’s seashores.
Da Nang has rapidly developed in recent years. There are still several remnants from the infamous Vietnam War leftover, such as the ruins of a military base remained in the form of helicopter hangars, though these are now more easily spotted at the city’s International Airport, which serves both civil and military flights.
Da Nang is sometimes missed by foreign visitors but is surely one of the friendliest cities you have ever seen all over Vietnam. We have the famous My Khe Beach, which is monthly sprouting brand new high-rise resorts.
… in which, Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture is a precious gift
Dating back to 192 AD, Champa was an iconic federation-like kingdom existing in the upper part of Southeast Asia. Cham people was strongly affected by Indian culture. The Cham Museum in Danang is dedicated to this kingdom which then slowly lost its place through the expansion of Vietnam down South. Owning the biggest exhibition of Cham sculpture in the world, the site displays nearly 300 terracotta and stone works of art from the 7th to the 15th centuries. Many of them are masterpieces, including icon, pedestal, pediment, and fragment according to the region where they were discovered. The exterior of the building itself was also carefully decorated with objects of worship such as idols and holy animals surrounded by flowers, leaves and Hinduism symbols.

Wander off in a pagoda is not a bad idea
Under the reign of Nguyen Dynasty, in the XIX century, there was a Buddha statue from nowhere floating to the shore of a beach in the city. Seeing it as a holy sign, people built a shrine for worship. From then on, fishermen were all blessed with successful voyage without bad weather condition as previously. The sandbank where the Buddha statue drifted was also where Ling Ung pagoda founded nowadays.

Just 9 km away from downtown, the pagoda is now seen as the biggest one in the city. It brings a contemporary style with a curved roof in dragon shape, solid pillars surrounded by sophisticated sinuous dragons.
18 stoned Arhat statues are one of the most outstanding features of the site. Especially, there is a statue of Guan Yin known as the tallest in the country.

Covering over 868 square kilometers on the West bank of the Han River, Danang Asia Park consists of three main areas: an amusement park with modern rides, attraction and shows; a cultural park displaying ten countries’ features with traditional architecture and horticulture; and the central zone, considered as the interface between modern and traditional characteristics. Highlighted in the middle of the Park is the 115 meters tall Sun Wheel surrounded by prosperous gardens.
Asia Park offers an absolute package of rides, attractions, shows, restaurants, and retail for a wonderful night out. Popular sites such as four roller coasters, attractions for children and high-speed thrill rides are all available.
